FELLOWSHIP BAND IN BOGNOR REGIS
On Friday 23rd October 2009, The Solent Fellowship Band presented a Concert at St Wilfred’s Church, Bognor Regis on behalf of the local Salvation Army Corps.Father Andrew Wadsworth (St Wilfred’s Church) welcomed the band and congregation before Bandmaster Chris Kennett conducted an opening March, “Spirit of Joy” (Herbert Rive).
Lieutenant Peter Clark (Commanding Officer, Bognor Regis Corps) added his words of welcome and offered prayer.
Following a congregational song, the band played Barrie Gott’s Festival Arrangement, “Let There Be Praise” and a Song Arrangement, “Whiter Than The Snow” (William Himes).
Goff Richard’s arrangement of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s, “Memory” from the Musical, “Cats” then preceeded Robert Redhead’s Suite, “Shout Salvation”.
David Samuels (pianoforte) played two short pieces, “Traumerei” (R. Schumann)
and “To A Wild Rose” (Edward MacDowell).
Dennis Rudd, the band’s Principal Cornetist then presented Peter Graham’s “Glorious Ventures” before joining with Aubrey Ford for a cornet and soprano duet, “The Cleansing Stream” (Erik Leidzen).
A collection was taken for the Local Salvation Army Community work in Bognor Regis, and following a short interval, the band played Dudley Bright’s March, “Assignment” and “The Blessing” (William Himes).
Major Derek Smith then read words of scripture before the band played the Meditation, “Armadale” (Ray Bowes) and the 4th movement (Charter Fair) from Peter Graham’s, “The Haslemere Suite”.
The band concluded the concert by playing Keith Ketteringham’s arrangement of “St Clements”.
Lieutenant Peter Clark thanked everyone for their part in the concert and offered a final prayer.
