LEE ON SOLENT CONCERT

On Friday 13th March 2009, The Solent Fellowship Band were delighted to make a return visit to the Lee-On-The-Solent Methodist Church.

After a welcome from Raymond Boyes, the band included a wide variety of items in the programme including, the March, “Spirit of Joy” (H.Rive), Barrie Gott’s Festival Arrangement, “Let There Be Praise”, Dean Goffin’s March “Alderney” and the Spiritual “Deep River” arranged by William Broughton.

Individual items featured the band’s Principal Tenor Horn, Callam Carter, who played Derek Jordan’s arrangement of the Ronda – Mozart’s 4th Horn Concerto and Alex Manning who contributed the Flugel Horn Solo, “Feelings” arranged by Derek Ashmore. Soprano cornet soloist Aubrey Ford presented, “Only Love” (Vladimir Cosma, arr. P.H. Greenwood).

The band also played three arrangements of well known tunes, “Martyn” (W. Heaton), “Mid All The Traffic” (L. Ballantine) and “Whiter Than The Snow” (W. Himes).

Further works presented by the band included Robert Redhead’s Suite, “Shout Salvation” and “The Blessing” (William Himes).

Reciprocal words of thanks were given by Rev’d Vincent Canning (Minister) and Bandmaster Chris Kennett.

Major Derek Smith read from Scripture and the band concluded the fund raising concert by playing Keith Ketteringham’s arrangement of St Clements. (TU).
