Captain Noelyn North

Noelyn was for many years our Second Horn Player and married to the late Dennis North one of our Tuba players. Noelyn was born on the Isle of Wight. She was educated at the Arreton School and Newport Grammar School. At ten years old she was enrolled as a Junior Soldier of The Newport Corps and over the years had various responsibilities there including the Life Saving Guard Leader, Corps Cadet Guardian and Y.P Band Leader. She was married to Raymond and they had 4 sons. She worked for The Southern Electricity Board as a shop supervisor. Raymond died in 1980 and in 1982 Noelyn became an Auxiliary Captain in The Salvation Army. Appointments included Hedge End, Petersfield, Portsmouth North and Andover. In 2003 she married Dennis and in 2004 together they joined The Solent Fellowship Band. Noleyn and Dennis soldiered together at Andover Corps until Dennis was promoted to glory. Noelyn still faithfully serves there.
