Dennis North

Dennis was one of our intrepid bunch of Eb Tuba players! Dennis was born in St Marybourne. He went to St Marybourne and Whitchurch schools. He learnt to play cornet aged 7 in The Salvation Army at St Marybourne. He spent National Service in the RAF as a euphonium player. On return he was appointed Bandmaster at St Marybourne. After 4 years he left the Army and went into the Dance Band world playing trumpet for 34 years. Sadly and after 50 years of marriage to Irene, his wife died. He went back to the Army again at Andover and took up the euphonium once more. In 2003 he married Noleyn. In 2004 along with Noelyn, he joined The Solent Fellowship Band on Eb Bass. At the time of compiling this profile Dennis was nearly 80 years of age but said he still enjoyed his brass playing as much as ever! Sadly, in October 2013, Dennis was Promoted To glory and is missed very much.
